Racing since 1971

Scotland once had circuits at Charterhall, Ingliston, Beveridge Park and Turnberry. They are all gone. Charterhall ran its last season in 1964; Ingliston closed in 1994 and never came back.

Today there are two places left in the country where you can race a motorcycle on tarmac: Knockhill, and here. Every round of the Scottish Championship is run at one or the other.

Melville Motor Club had been a group of friends on motorcycles since 1933 when, in 1970, they started clearing a disused wartime airfield at East Fortune by hand. The first race ran in 1971. Keeping the place open is still most of what the club does.
